A Solar Eclipse event will take place on Monday, April 8, 2024 starting at 2:10 pm and ending at 4:36 pm.
Please do not be alarmed.
If you're in the path of the U.S. land that extends from Texas to Maine, you will see the moon block the sun, and its shadow cast a night-like darkness over Earth for a few minutes. Paterson will be able to view the Eclipse, and at its peak, the moon will block 91% of the sun.
For your safety and the safety of other citizens, please follow some of these safety tips:
- Be careful while driving/crossing streets. The Solar Eclipse may cause drivers and pedestrians to look up while in motion. Be careful and practice caution.
- Do not stare directly at the sun during the Eclipse because it may cause damage to the retina of the eye. There is special eyewear that may be purchased online too be able to view the Eclipse safely. Although, a quick peek should not cause harm.
- Make sure children understand what is happening so they won't be fearful and may enjoy the experience
- Enjoy the experience safely
