Just over a dozen miles from New York City, Paterson, New Jersey is the birthplace of American industry.  Founded by Alexander Hamilton, the city grew around the 77-foot waterfall, now known as the Great Falls, and a system of water raceways that allowed for multiple manufacturing mills to produce items ranging from textiles, firearms, and railroad locomotives.
