Paterson, NJ - - Governor Christie declared a state of Emergency for New Jersey due to the severe snow storm.
Weather forecasters expect from 18 to 24 inches of snow in northern areas of the state and blizzard warnings are in effect in Passaic and Bergen counties as well as in 11 other counties.
“I urge residents to be safe and not travel our roads.  Our first responders and public safety officers are on duty and can efficiently handle any emergency, and our Department of Public Works is on the road, cleaning our streets,” said Mayor Jose ‘joey’ Torres.
“Please take safety precautions should you need to venture outside and take extra steps to safeguard the elderly and pets.”
Residents can also report problems to the City Hotline at 973-321-1558.
The city of Paterson urges all residents to:
•         Secure any loose outdoor items
•         Prepare a disaster supply kit
•         Make a family emergency plan
•         Do not leave pets outside
•         Check on friends and neighbors especially the elderly, disabled and sick
